Operating Theatres

All the operating rooms are located on second floor very close to ICU and Central Sterilization Supplies Department (CSSD). An operating theatre (also known as an operating room, operating suite or OT) is a Facility within a hospital where surgical operations are carried out in a sterile environment.

There are seven (7) operating rooms with four (4) spacious modular theatres, one being a hybrid operating room. The modular theaters are of class 5, both Hepa filters and laminar flow whereas operating room 5 to 7 are of class 7 using Hepa filters.

Lamina flow theaters, prevent airborne bacteria from getting into open wounds, as well as removing and reducing levels of bacteria on exposed surgical instruments, surgeons and the patient’s own skin. The system ensures that there are less than 10 Colony Forming Units (CFUs) of bacteria per cubic meter of air in the room. By doing this, they prevent dangerous contamination. Thus, substantially improving post-operative clinical outcomes on surgical procedures and reducing length of stay.

Theater seven (7) is located within Obstetrics and Gynecology department designed for emergencies. All theaters have been equipped with state-of-the-art equipment at international standards level especially hybrid operating room.

All the theatres work between 0800hrs to 1800hrs for elective cases and only one theatre caters for emergency surgeries after hours, nights, weekends and holidays.
