Agfa announces today that the newly built, local brand, Sidilega Private Hospital in Gaborone, Botswana, has chosen to implement Agfa’s DR 800 multi-purpose direct radiography (DR) solution, as well as the DX-D 600 high-performance, fully-automated X-ray room and DR 100e compact, mobile imaging unit.

The Sidilega Private Hospital, which broke ground in April 2017, has been licensed to operate 110 beds, with out patient services.  It is the hospital’s mandate to provide “Best in Class” efficient and cost effective healthcare services to the people of Botswana and by partnering with us it’s a dream come true. Imaging will be handled by six radiographers, all qualified in multiple modalities, including general radiography, CT and MRI.

Fluoroscopy and general radiography from a single investment

The hospital aims to deliver state-of-the-art care by providing multispecialty tertiary services to the local community and international patients. This includes selecting world-class equipment for its imaging department.

The Sidilega Private Hospital is breaking new grounds by being the first hospital in Botswana to implement the DR 800. This versatile solution can handle a full range of radiography (including static and tilting exams) and fluoroscopy exams (including barium studies, arthrograms, cystograms, myelography and catheter placement, etc.), without the need for additional overhead tubes or separate wall stands. It can thus carry out the different types of imaging in a single room, with a single investment.

The high-productivity, ceiling-suspended DX-D 600 and convenient, mobile DR 100e will further help the hospital to offer excellence in imaging to its patients.

All of Agfa’s DR solutions come with the MUSICA Nerve Center, which presents a single, intuitive interface for smooth and efficient imaging. The MUSICA image processing software delivers exquisite details throughout the image and offers the potential to lower patient radiation dose. MUSICA brings intelligence to the entire digital imaging process for “first time right” imaging without manual post-processing.

The DR 800 is equipped with dynamic MUSICA image processing software, which can handle fluoroscopic images with the same high quality and low dose features that have made it the ‘gold standard’ for radiology departments around the world.

Comprehensive portfolio for intelligent imaging

“We are very proud that this new, state-of-the-art care facility has chosen to open its doors with Agfa imaging solutions,” says Louis Kuitenbrouwer, Vice President, Radiology Solutions at Agfa.  of Agfa. “Agfa is well-known in Botswana, especially for mobile imaging, but dealer Afmed did an excellent job of demonstrating how our comprehensive portfolio of solutions and MUSICA bring intelligence to the entire digital imaging process.”

“We were very impressed with the DR 800, which gives us a multitool for our digital imaging,” says Dr Shakil Rasul, Executive Director of Sidilega Private Hospital. “We appreciate our relationship with our supplier Afmed, and the advisory support they have given. We are convinced that, with their direct radiography solutions, Agfa is providing us with world-class equipment that will support our goal to provide comprehensive, efficient and high-quality care services in a safe and patient-centric environment.”  Thus advancing the hospital etho “where technology meets compassion”
